In the name of God Amen I John German of Coppul in the Parish of
Standish in the County of Lancaster being weak in body, but of sound and
perfect mind and memory Blessed be almighty God for the same, do make
and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form
following that is to say First I order and direct my executors
hereinafter named to pay and discharge all my debts, funeral expences
and the charge which may attend the probate of this my will out of my
personal estate and effects Secondly Then I give and bequeath unto my
beloved wife Margret German the sum of seven pounds a year of lawful
Brittish money for the term of her natural life by four Quarterly
payments in the year and every year so long as she shall live the first
quarterly payment (or the sum of one pound and fifteen shillings) to be
paid to her by my executors at three months after my death and so on for
every quarter of a year. Also I give and bequeath to my beloved wife
Margret German all my houshold goods impliments and furniture so long as
she shall live. then after her death I order my executors to make sale
thereof of all my said houshold goods, impliments and furniture in the
sapce of one month after her death. and the money so arising by such
sale together with the money which the seven pounds a year is to arise
from to be equally divided amongst my eight children in the space of six
months after her death Thirdly I give and bequeath to my son James
German to my daughter Mary Harrison to my son Thomas German to my son
Richard German, to my son Peter German to my
daughter Margret Harrison to my son Benjamin Garman and my daughter
Nanny Hey, all my other personal estate and and effects whatsoever to be
devided as under mentioned (that is to say) I give and bequeath to my
son James German ten pounds more than any of my other children, which
said ten pounds is to arise from and out of my son Benjamin German
share. So I give and bequeath my son Benjamin German ten pounds less
than any of my other children. Which said other children I give and
bequeath as follows to my daughter Mary Harrison, to my son Thomas
German, to my son
Richard German, to my son Peter German, to my daughter Margret Harrison
and my daughter Nanney Hey. Each an equal share a piece all which said
my personal estate I give and bequeath to be divided as above that is to
my son James German ten pounds more or above an equal share along with
my children Mary Harrison, Thomas German, Richard German, Peter German,
Margret Harrison and Nanny Hey And I give and bequeath to my son
Benjamin German ten
pounds less or under an equal share along with my children Mary
Harrison, Thomas German, Richard German, Peter German, Margret Harrison
and Nanny Hey (and twenty pounds less or under an equal share along with
my son James German). All which sums of money I order and direct to be
paid to Margret German my beloved wife which is directed how to be paid
and divided accordingly Fourthly. And my will and mind is that if any
one or more of my said children shall find themself agreeved and not
content with their share, shall have no more than one shilling for his,
her or their share, and then the said share or shares to be equally
divided amongst them that is content with his, her, or their, share
andlastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Jamess German and my
son by law Thomas Harrison both of Charnock Richard in the said county
to be my
executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former
wills by me made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
the twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and ninety four

I John German of Coppul in the county of Lancaster do this
fifth day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety four
make and publish this codicil to my last will and testament
(that is to say) I also nominate and appoint James German
of Euxton to be one of my executors also along with the other
two and lastly it is my desire that this my present codicil be
annexed to and made a part of my last will and testament
to all intents and purposes. In witness whereof I have hereunto
set
my hand and seal this day and year first above written
