n the name of god amen the eighth day of December in the eleventh year of the reign of our sovereign Lord Charles by the grace of god King of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the faith Et cetera anno Domini 1635 I John Boulton of Coppull in the county of Lancaster husbandman being aged and weak in body but of good and perfect memory I praise almighty god therefore knowing myself to be mortal and the time of my dissolution [illeg] one utterly renouncing and revoking all former wills and testaments by me heretofore made do hereby constitute ordaine and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first and principally I commend my soul unto almighty god my creator redeemer and sanctifier hoping assuredly by and through the merits of my savior Jesus Christ to inherit everlasting life. And my body I commit to Christian burial at my parish church of Standish there to remain until the resurrection of all men at which time I hope to arise again and so to reign with my savior amongst all the rest of his elected children in the glorious kingdom of heaven for evermore. And for those temporal goods which the lord of his great mercy and goodness hath bestowed on me I give and bequeath them as followeth and first my will and mind is that all my debts and also all my funeral expenses shall be first taken up discharged and paid for of all my goods and chattels. And then it is my mind and will that all the rest of my goods and chattels shall be divided into three equal parts the first part thereof I give unto Lettiz Boulton my wife the second part thereof I give unto all my children (whereof Peter Mather of Anderton my son in law to be one) to be equally divided amongst them all. And the third and last part thereof I reserve to myself out of the which I give and bequeath unto every one of my grandchildren which I am grandfather unto to every one of them three shillings four pence apiece (except Lettiz Boulton my grandchild) and unto the said Lettiz Boulton my grandchild I give and bequeath unto her twenty shillings. Item all the rest and residue of my said over and besides these my legacies I give and bequeath the same unto John Boulton and Thomas Boulton my two younger sons equally to be divided between them. Item it is my will and mind that my executors here after named shall have the tuition rule and government of all the goods of the said Lettiz Boulton my grandchild and shall employ and putd forth the same for her most profit and commodity. And lastly I do hereby constitute ordaine and make the said Lettiz Boulton my wife and Thomas Boulton my son my true and lawful executors of this my last will and testament hoping they will truly execute and perform the same as my trust is in them before all others.
