In the name of God Amen. I Edward Chissenhall of Chissenhall in the county of Lancaster Esqr send greetings in our Lord God everlasting and forasmuch as I am somtymes troubled with infirmityes which I account as messengers of death to call me heare out of this vale of mortality And forasmuch as death is uncertayne when and att what tyme it shall please the Almighty to send it to dissolve our fleshy tabernacles I therefore consideringe how obnoxious I am not only by reason of my weakness of constitution but likewise by reason of the severall and suddaine casualtys subject accordinge to Gods goodwill and pleasure to mankinde and especially callinge to minde the evils and dangers of this present troublesome age thought it my bounden le to the merits and righteousness of Almighty God in Jesus Christ who hath redeemed uss through his bloud. To whom together with the Holy Spirit be glory and honour forever. But also with Hezekiah to embrace the prophet Isaiah his advice to put my house in order and to dispose of my real and personall estate that after my decease no controversie may rightly arise for touchinge or concerninge the same or any part of the same wherefore I do ordayne constitute publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge And first with the prophet I commend my spirit into the hands of Almighty God and his Sonne Jesus Christ who is a faithfull mediator and my body I commend unto the grave to be buryed in the parish church of Standish under the auncient monument which hath the French inscription upon itt which my auncestors there to remayne till itt shall please God to rayse itt againe a body of Immortality which monument or gravestone lyeth in the south side of the middle alley next to the quire betwixt the buryalls belonging to the houses of Worthington and Adlington. And for and concerninge my worldly estate my will and minde is that the same be given and distributed in such manner and sort as followeth vizt my will and minde is that my lawfull heirs shall have these things as heirlooms [illeg] to me vizt my auncient seales of arms my plate and jewels which were left me by my father and then my debts and funeral expenses first discharged I gyve and bequeath unto my said heire the drawers and settles [?] on my closet over the parlour and the table there and the table in the hall and the tables and cupboard in the parlour and the great chests in the kitchen and brewhouse and all my bookes printed and written. Next I devise and bequeath to my executors my woods and underwoods growing and being in Rivington in and upon the tenement of Thurstan Bradley [inserted] and Allans tenement to be sold by ye and converted into assets. Item I give unto my heire my seal ring and my dets and funeral expenses discharged my will and minde is that the overplus of the assets shall be divided amongst my wife and youngest children accordinge to the custome of the Province of York. And I doe nominate constitute ordayne and appoint my trusty and wellbeloved friends Thomas Rigby of Broughton clerke Thomas Breres of Rivington gent Edward Dicconson of the Hall of Copphall gent and Edward Chissenhall my sonne executors of this my last will and testament in hopes they will execute and performe the same as my trust is in them reposed. Finally I utterly revoke retract abrogate adnull and to all intents and purposes utterly repeale and make voyde all former and other testaments will legacyes bequests devise executors and overseers by me in any wise heretofore made namely willed devised and bequeasted In witnesseth whereof to this my present will I have subscribed my name and put my seal.
